Snellville Planning Commission

What does the Planning Commission do?
Any application to amend the City of Snellville Zoning Ordinance, including the Official Zoning Map of Snellville and the Land Use Plan of Snellville, must first be submitted to the Snellville Planning Commission for review and recommendation.

The Planning Commission, comprised of six volunteer Snellville citizens having been appointed to the Commission by the Mayor and Council, will hold an open meeting on each application in accordance with the 2008 Meeting Schedule adopted by the Mayor and Council.  Staff recommendations on each application are submitted to the Planning Commission in advance of the open meeting.

With each application, the Planning Commission will investigate and make a recommendation as to each of the matters set forth in Section 15.2(2)(g) and/or 15.2(3)(e) of the Zoning Ordinance for approval, denial, deferral, withdrawal without prejudice or no recommendation.

A written report of the Planning Commission’s investigation and recommendation, along with the investigation and recommendation of the Planning Department, is then submitted to the Mayor and Council and become public record.

When and where does the Planning Commission meet?
The Planning Commission meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month (or as scheduled) at 7:30 pm in the Council Chambers of City Hall.  Please see the Planning Commisson's current Agendas section for current meeting, cancellation or postponement notices.
