Landscape of the Quarter
The
Best Landscaping of the Quarter program awards either a neighborhood or
business that continually maintains an excellent landscape. The award
is presented quarterly by the City Arborist and typically alternates between
a business and a neighborhood. The businesses that receive this award
are those that not only keep their landscapes excellently maintained,
but also go above and beyond by planting trees, shrubs, and seasonal annuals
to provide year-round interest.
The
award is given to those neighborhoods that
have taken the initiative to install decorative signs and lighting, as
well as trees, shrubs, and seasonal annuals, at their entrances. The award
is intended not only to commend those businesses and neighborhoods that
continually maintain an excellent landscape, but to also encourage others
to enhance theirs.
The winner
of the Fall 2002 award is Carrington subdivision on Dogwood
Road. This subdivision consistently has a beautiful landscape throughout
the year with flowering annuals, a tree-lined entrance, and well-maintained
grounds. A brick entrance wall and sign also frames the entrance to the
subdivision. Past recipients include:
We would
like to give a special thank you to Dr. Joel Shavin of Gwinnett Dermatology.
His recent donation allowed us to purchase an additional sign for increased
visibility of the program and recipients.

to all of these winners and stay tuned for next quarter's winner - it
could be your neighborhood or business!
