Sanitation
Reminders
- To insure that any extra trash will be picked up, you will need to purchase City of Snellville extra trash bags. The bags are available at Publix and Kroger on Scenic Hwy, City Hall and the Public Works office. Place your extra trash inside the blue bags alongside your cart on your regularly scheduled pick up day. There is no need to call!
- We encourage you to save your cardboard boxes and drop them off at the Recycling Center. Cardboard isn't recycled curbside therefore any cardboard left at curb should be bagged inside your garbage cart or placed in special city blue bags along side of your cart.
- You are allowed as many recyclable items as needed. If you have more than what fits into your bin, place the items in a bag clearly labeled "Recycling" and put it on top of the recycling bin.
- Snellville citizens please make sure your home address is easily identifiable on your mailbox, curb or home. This helps our garbage hauler as was as emergency personnel.

We are a franchised City which means all solid waste services must go through our Public Works Department. This includes commercial services, residential services and temporary construction containers for business or home repairs. To assure you the great service that you deserve, please read this information carefully.

Household Garbage
The City of Snellville is on a volume-based service. The basic service provides each household with one 65 gallon wheeled garbage cart and one 18 gallon recycling bin. Household garbage is picked up once weekly at the curb. Your cart and recycling bin must be at the curb by 7:00 AM on your pickup day. All garbage must be in durable plastic garbage bags not weighing over 50 lbs., bags must be tied, and all garbage must be inside your cart. Only garbage placed in Robertson containers will be collected. Additional garbage must be placed in the "Special City Bags" now available at City Hall, Public Works and your local Publix and Kroger stores. The new blue bags are imprinted with the City seal. The purchase of these bags will cover the cost of the extra garbage pick up. You will no longer need to schedule extra garbage pick up and you will not receive any billing notices.
Special Service Fees
Your basic garbage and recycling will be provided to every homeowner at no additional charge. The "Special City of Snellville Blue Bag" is used for overflow garbage that will not fit into your standard Robertson cart or for bulk item pick up. When needed, residents should place the "Special Bags" alongside their regular cart on their scheduled day of collection. The cost of the "Special Bag" is $27.00 per box. They are sold only by the box. Each box contains (20) 32 gallon bags. Garbage outside your 1, 65-gallon cart will NOT be picked up if it is not in a "Special City of Snellville Blue Bag". Bulk items can also be picked up on your regularly scheduled pick up day by attaching (3) of the "Special City of Snellville Blue Bags" to each bulk item and placing the item at the curb along side your cart, there is no need to call ahead. The fee for yard trimming pick up is included in the cost of the "Special Yard Waste Bags". The cost is $3.00 per bag. The only services billed to you will be requested wood chipping jobs. The charge for city crews to come out and operate the wood chipper is $35.00 for up to 1 hour. If you need additional service you may contact the sanitation department at (770) 985-3527 or go to the online service request page.
