GDOT's 124-78 intersection animation 124-78 Fact Sheet Intersection Brochure How to Make a Turn at the intersection of 124-78 Construction Schedule and Known Details (updated July 9, 2019) The long-anticipated lane shift at the highway 78-124 intersection will take place the night of July 30. Drivers will want to acquaint themselves with the new traffic flow and lane usage before then. Work and paving will continue before and after July 30. While the project will be completed by the fall, landscaping will still be ongoing through the planting season in spring. Pate Street will be closed July 15 for construction work. In July 2017, the Georgia Department of Transportation selected a contractor for the intersection improvements at Main Street (U.S. 78) and Scenic Highway (S.R. 124). The first phase is improvements to Henry Clower Boulevard at either end where Clower meets U.S. 78, and where Henry Clower Blvd. meets Scenic Highway. The second phase is all the improvements to the intersection of U.S. 78 and S.R. 124. The project is anticipated to take 18 to 24 months for completion.
