Construction Schedule and Known Details (updated March 25, 2019) Construction crews continue to work along Highway 78, on curbing and applying a stone base. Crews are preparing to pave on Highway 78 on the westbound in the second half of April. Hopefully we will erect the overhead structure at 78/124 in mid to late April as well. Construction officials are confident they will have the project completed by the end of the year – possibly November 2019. In July 2017, the Georgia Department of Transportation selected a contractor for the intersection improvements at Main Street (U.S. 78) and Scenic Highway (S.R. 124). The first phase is improvements to Henry Clower Boulevard at either end where Clower meets U.S. 78, and where Henry Clower Blvd. meets Scenic Highway. The second phase is all the improvements to the intersection of U.S. 78 and S.R. 124. The project is anticipated to take 18 to 24 months for completion.
