Original information

Dear Citizens of Snellville,

The City of Snellville began its new optional subscription-based recycling and extra garbage cart program on Monday, May 1.

Please know those who have not signed up for the program will have their recycling bins picked up over the course of the next several pick up dates.

Please know you may opt into the recycling program for a $144 fee or receive an additional garbage cart for $120 by contacting the Public Works Department at 770-985-3527.

We, as a city, are truly sorry for any confusion that occurred during this new program’s roll out, but every attempt was made to educate citizens about the program beforehand through both individual resident letters and social media outlets.

As a reminder, per the city’s contract with Waste Management, plastics numbers one through seven will continue to be taken at curbside. Only plastics numbered one and two will be accepted at the city’s Recycling Center on Marigold Road.

Those who signed up for an additional garbage cart will receive the proper equipment by the end of this week.

Thank you for your cooperation.
