POLICE COURT SECURITY OFFICER (Part-time) - POLICE DEPARTMENT

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $27.00 – $33.00 per hour, depending on experience.

DUTIES:
The Police Court Bailiff is a certified Georgia POST Basic Peace Officer responsible for maintaining safety and order within the courthouse. They monitor entrances, conduct security screenings, and maintain a visible presence to deter threats. During court proceedings, they provide security, escort personnel, and respond to disturbances. In emergencies, they handle incidents, assist with evacuations, and provide first aid. Additionally, they take enforcement action when necessary, and perform administrative tasks such as reporting and assisting the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•  Must be 21 years of age or older;
•  Must have a high school diploma or GED;
•  Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License; and
•  Must have an active Georgia POST Basic Peace Officer Certification in good standing with prior experience in law enforcement.

HIRING PROCESS:
The hiring process consists of a panel interview; an evaluation of prior education and work experience; verification of Georgia POST Basic Peace Officer certification, a criminal and credit history background check; and successful completion of a post-conditional offer psychological exam, polygraph interview and exam, a physical exam and pre-employment drug screen. There will be a rigid personal and work background investigation.

Starting Salary:   $15.00 per hour

DUTIES:    This is responsible and professional work in assisting Park staff in general duties.  Applicant will be involved with league scorekeeping, planning, organizing and supervising a wide variety of recreational, athletic programming and special events.  Direction is provided by the Director of Recreation and Parks and/or Facility Coordinator.  Incumbent must exercise personal judgment and discretion in general office duties and supervising activities based on established policies, procedures and schedules. Incumbent will be working a variety of days/shifts with majority being during the evening and weekend. 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred; or partial completion of major course work; or a combination of training, education and/or experience in Parks & Recreation and/or athletic profession.  Must be 17 years of age or older.

Examination:  Job interview, personal and work background check, criminal history check, and a successful post offer, pre-employment drug screen.

DUTIES:

This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances.  Work involves routine patrol in assigned area, responding to emergency calls, alarms and citizen complaints.  Duties include traffic enforcement, assignments, preliminary investigations and other related work.  An officer of higher ranks reviews work assignments.  Work requires independent judgment and discretion in difficult or unusual situations.  Work involves an element of personal danger.  Work is performed under the general supervision of a police Corporal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older,
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and
  • Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced Degree (Associate’s Degree or higher)
  • Georgia Basic Peace Officer Certification
APPLICATION PROCESS:

The application process will consist of an application review, oral interview, a comprehensive background investigation to include an evaluation of prior education and work experience, a criminal history review and a credit history review.  Candidates who successfully complete the background investigation may be given a conditional job offer.  A final offer of employment would then be dependent upon the candidate’s successful completion of pre-employment testing which includes a physical assessment, drug screen, polygraph and psychological exam.
