Duties  

This is highly skilled administrative work responsible for performing moderate to difficult accounting and administrative work in maintaining the city’s property tax records and processing property tax payments. Also performs other general office duties that include assisting the general public, answering the telephone, and other general business office procedures. The employee must be able to work well independently, with co-workers, and with the public.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Clerk.

Minimum Requirements

A High School diploma, state-issued GED, or equivalent is required. Two-year work experience in customer service (by phone or in person), billing, or general clerical duties in an office environment is required. Written and/or spoken fluency in a foreign language (particularly Spanish) is desirable. Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR). Ability to obtain and maintain a Notary Public commission.

Examination 

Will consist of an evaluation of prior education and work experience, panel interviews, criminal history check, and financial history check. Applicant must take and pass a post-offer drug-screening test.

Park Maintenance Supervisor

Minimum Starting Salary:  $37,440.00 per year – Negotiable based on qualifications

Duties  

This is skilled work responsible for maintenance of the City Park facilities and recreational grounds. Incumbent supervises full time and part time employees and oversees the daily operations of the community service worker program.  Incumbent schedules all park maintenance efforts, to include facilities (park office, pavilions, senior center, etc) and grounds (athletic fields, common areas, pool, lake, etc.).  Work involves performing some heavy manual labor and operating a variety of landscape and mowing equipment and tools. Some weekend and evening work required on an as needed basis for Park Special events. Position reports to the Director, Parks & Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.  Previous supervision experience needed.  Horticulture experience and a general interest in the field desired.  Knowledge of the operation of tools and equipment necessary for turf maintenance work.  Ability to read and understand operating instructions. Ability to organize and plan daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance activities.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and public.  Lift up to 100 lbs., bend, squat, twist, crawl and climb on a daily basis.  Work outside.   Possess valid Georgia Driver's license and a good motor vehicle record.

PERMANENT PART TIME FACILITY WORKER


Minimum Starting Salary: $12.00 per hour   (20-25 hrs per week)

DUTIES:
This Permanent PT work will be assisting Park Maintenance staff with general facility maintenance and up keep.  Incumbent will assist in preparing facilities for rentals and SPRD events at any Parks & Recreation facilities.  They will assist in various janitorial duties on a daily basis including but not limited to trash pick-up, restroom cleaning, dusting and various facility repairs and up keep.  Will respond to the needs of other staff and city workers and perform “team” oriented duties.  Some weekend and evening work required on an as needed basis for Park Special events. Position reports to the Park Maintenance Supervisor and/or the Park Facility & Grounds Foreman.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and public.  Lift up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, twist, crawl and climb on a daily basis.  Work inside and outside.

DUTIES:    This is responsible and professional part-time work in assisting Park staff in planning, organizing and supervising a wide variety of recreational, athletic programming and special events.  Incumbent duties will include, but not limited to, patrolling park facilities, overseeing athletic events, special events, classes.  Monitoring clubs, vendors, individuals under contractual agreements with SPRD.  Assists daily functions of department.  Direction is provided by the Program Coordinator or Director of Recreation and Parks.  Incumbent must exercise personal judgment and discretion in supervising activities based on established policies, procedures and schedules.  Incumbent will be working a variety of days/shifts with majority being during the evening and weekend.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent.  Prefer at least two (2) years’ experience in performing duties related to recreational programming and general park operations. Any equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience in Parks & Recreation and/or athletic profession may be acceptable.  Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license (Class C) at time of employment.  Red Cross certifications in First Aid and CPR preferred.

Duties

This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances.  Work involves routine patrol in assigned area, responding to emergency calls, alarms and citizen complaints.  Duties include traffic enforcement, assignments, preliminary investigations and other related work.  An officer of higher ranks reviews work assignments.  Work requires independent judgment and discretion in difficult or unusual situations.  Work involves an element of personal danger.  Work is performed under the general supervision of a police sergeant.

Minimum Requirements 

High School diploma or equivalent.  Experience in law enforcement preferred.   Basic certification as a Georgia Peace Officer (consideration will be given to current enrollees of a state mandated academy course for certification as a Georgia Peace Officer).  Completion POST approved in-service training each year.  Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.   Possess valid Georgia Driver's license.

Examination

Will consist of a panel interview; an evaluation of prior education and work experience; and a criminal and credit history background check.  There will be a rigid personal and work background investigation.   Also the successful candidate must pass a post offer, pre-employment drug test, psychological, polygraph and physical examination.

Maintenance Worker

Starting Salary Range:   up to $35,360.00 annual

 Duties  

This is semi-skilled manual work in maintaining the City's right-of-ways, grounds, streets, curb and gutter, and storm water systems.  Work can involve heavy manual tasks that may require the use of power tools and operation of light to heavy equipment.  Majority of work is performed outside.  Must be able to respond to service needs within a 30 to 45 minute response time during evenings and on weekends. Assignments will be carried out under the direct supervision of the Public Works Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Public Works Department or other related field preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.  Qualified applicants will have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions for extended periods of time.  They also will possess the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) and bend, squat, twist, crawl and climb on a daily basis. Incumbents must be able to operate assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner and possess a valid Georgia Driver's license with a good motor vehicle record.  Must enjoy teamwork.
