COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR - POLICE DEPARTMENT


Minimum Starting Salary: $37,000 per year

DUTIES:
Responsible work performing emergency 911 communications services for the Police Department. Emergency calls and service requests are received from the public and incumbents are required to contact the unit(s) to be dispatched given the type of incident, locations and other pertinent information. Work involves the operation of a radio system, telephone, NCIC/GCIC terminal, computer and other equipment. Position provides other clerical services such as data entry, filing and logging information in record books. Shift rotation required. Works under the supervision of the Communications Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
igh School diploma or equivalent. Some experience in emergency communications work preferred. Experience in related clerical work with proficient computer skills and a minimum data entry of 50 wpm. Experience in computer operations is required. Must have the ability to deal tactfully with public and local & state law enforcement officials. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

EXAMINATION:
Will consist of a panel interview and evaluation of prior education and work experience. A Criminal Background check and successful pre-employment, post offer drug test are required.

Part Time Program Assistant - Parks and Recreation

Starting Salary:   $11.50 per hour based on qualifications

DUTIES:    This is responsible and professional part-time work in assisting Park staff in planning, organizing and supervising a wide variety of recreational, athletic programming and special events.  Incumbent duties will include, but not limited to, patrolling park facilities, overseeing athletic events, special events, classes.  Monitoring clubs, vendors, individuals under contractual agreements with SPRD.  Assists daily functions of department.  Direction is provided by the Program Coordinator or Director of Recreation and Parks.  Incumbent must exercise personal judgment and discretion in supervising activities based on established policies, procedures and schedules.  Incumbent will be working a variety of days/shifts with majority being during the evening and weekend.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent.  Prefer at least two (2) years’ experience in performing duties related to recreational programming and general park operations. Any equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience in Parks & Recreation and/or athletic profession may be acceptable.  Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license (Class C) at time of employment.  Red Cross certifications in First Aid and CPR preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred; or partial completion of major course work; or a combination of training, education and/or experience in Parks & Recreation and/or athletic profession.  Must be 17 years of age or older.

Starting Salary:         $42,000 to $45,000 based on qualifications and experience for Georgia POST Certified Police Officer

Duties

This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances.  Work involves routine patrol in assigned area, responding to emergency calls, alarms and citizen complaints.  Duties include traffic enforcement, assignments, preliminary investigations and other related work.  An officer of higher ranks reviews work assignments.  Work requires independent judgment and discretion in difficult or unusual situations.  Work involves an element of personal danger.  Work is performed under the general supervision of a police sergeant.

Minimum Requirements 

High School diploma or equivalent.  Experience in law enforcement preferred.   Basic certification as a Georgia Peace Officer (consideration will be given to current enrollees of a state mandated academy course for certification as a Georgia Peace Officer).  Completion POST approved in-service training each year.  Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.   Possess valid Georgia Driver's license.

Examination

Will consist of a panel interview; an evaluation of prior education and work experience; and a criminal and credit history background check.  There will be a rigid personal and work background investigation.   Also the successful candidate must pass a post offer, pre-employment drug test, psychological, polygraph and physical examination.

Maintenance Worker

Starting Salary Range:   $31,200.00 to $35,360.00 annual

 Duties  

This is semi-skilled manual work in maintaining the City's right-of-ways, grounds, streets, curb and gutter, and storm water systems.  Work can involve heavy manual tasks that may require the use of power tools and operation of light to heavy equipment.  Majority of work is performed outside.  Must be able to respond to service needs within a 30 to 45 minute response time during evenings and on weekends. Assignments will be carried out under the direct supervision of the Public Works Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Public Works Department or other related field preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.  Qualified applicants will have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions for extended periods of time.  They also will possess the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.) and bend, squat, twist, crawl and climb on a daily basis. Incumbents must be able to operate assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner and possess a valid Georgia Driver's license with a good motor vehicle record.  Must enjoy teamwork.
