ZONING ADMINISTRATOR 


Minimum Starting Salary Range:   $56,202 annually FLSA Exempt

DUTIES:
Administer and enforce the City's Comprehensive Plan, Unified Development Ordinance, and other regulations for and development regulations.

Review development and redevelopment plans, permit applications, plats, and site plans for compliance with City ordinances.  Conduct technical research, analyze data, and prepare staff recommendations for the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Commission and the Mayor and Council.  Identify and resolve issues affecting building and development applications.

Assist in the preparation and update of zoning and land use maps, visual aids, presentations, and project narratives. Maintain and update application forms and general information for the Planning Department on the City’s website. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

An Associates degree may be accepted with sufficient additional practical experience. One year experience in the review of plans for the construction of commercial and residential developments and conducting site development inspections preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be acceptable.

DUTIES:
This position functions as a central point of public contact for the Administration and Planning & Development Departments. Primary duties include cashiering and handling funds associated with building permits, occupational tax permits, tracking and managing the permitting, zoning, and development processes, fielding and routing telephone calls, emails, and inquiries from the public, and data processing. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Director of Planning and Development:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years government experience working as an administrative assistant, customer service rep, or office manager for a local municipal government or similar public agency; or comparable private sector employer. Experience must include records management and good working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications, especially Excel and Word, and overall proficient computer skills. Outstanding customer service skills are a must.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Two (2) years of experience working as a permit clerk, administrative assistant, customer service rep, or office manager for a planning and zoning or community development department or similar agency; or comparable private sector employer.

COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR - POLICE DEPARTMENT


Minimum Starting Salary: $42,084.00 per year

DUTIES:
Responsible work performing emergency 911 communications services for the Police Department.  Emergency calls and service requests are received from the public and incumbents are required to contact the unit(s) to be dispatched given the type of incident, locations and other pertinent information.  Work involves the operation of a radio system, telephone, NCIC/GCIC terminal, computer and other equipment.  Position provides other clerical services such as data entry, filing and logging information in record books.  Shift rotation required.  Works under the supervision of the Communications Supervisor.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent.  Some experience in emergency communications work preferred.  Experience in related clerical work with proficient computer skills and a minimum data entry of 50 wpm.  Experience in computer operations is required. Must have the ability to deal tactfully with public and local & state law enforcement officials.  Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

DUTIES:    This is responsible and professional work in assisting Park staff in general duties.  Applicant will be involved with league scorekeeping, planning, organizing and supervising a wide variety of recreational, athletic programming and special events.  Direction is provided by the Director of Recreation and Parks and/or Facility Coordinator.  Incumbent must exercise personal judgment and discretion in general office duties and supervising activities based on established policies, procedures and schedules. Incumbent will be working a variety of days/shifts with majority being during the evening and weekend. 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred; or partial completion of major course work; or a combination of training, education and/or experience in Parks & Recreation and/or athletic profession.  Must be 17 years of age or older.

DUTIES:

This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances.  Work involves routine patrol in assigned area, responding to emergency calls, alarms and citizen complaints.  Duties include traffic enforcement, assignments, preliminary investigations and other related work.  An officer of higher ranks reviews work assignments.  Work requires independent judgment and discretion in difficult or unusual situations.  Work involves an element of personal danger.  Work is performed under the general supervision of a police Corporal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older,
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and
  • Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced Degree (Associate’s Degree or higher)
  • Georgia Basic Peace Officer Certification
APPLICATION PROCESS:

The application process will consist of an application review, oral interview, a comprehensive background investigation to include an evaluation of prior education and work experience, a criminal history review and a credit history review.  Candidates who successfully complete the background investigation may be given a conditional job offer.  A final offer of employment would then be dependent upon the candidate’s successful completion of pre-employment testing which includes a physical assessment, drug screen, polygraph and psychological exam.
